I was honored to participate in an event organized by the Associação das Famílias Brasileiras na Irlanda (AMBI), an organization dedicated to promoting Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language in Ireland. The event celebrated the richness of Brazilian culture, featuring distinguished guests, including the Brazilian and Portuguese ambassadors. As part of the event, I contributed with a live art performance, creating a painting inspired by a photograph from Sebastião Salgado's Amazônia series to raise awareness about the critical importance of preserving the Amazon rainforest.
Sebastião Salgado is a renowned Brazilian photographer known for his compelling black-and-white images that highlight social and environmental issues. His Amazônia project captures the breathtaking beauty of the Amazon rainforest and its indigenous communities, emphasizing the urgent need for conservation. Through my artwork, I sought to honor Salgado's vision and draw attention to the escalating threats facing the Amazon due to deforestation driven by cattle ranching and soy production. This project underscores my commitment to environmental advocacy and the power of art in fostering cultural and ecological awareness.
